The introduction of the Radial Winch line by Harken marks a significant advancement in winch design. The chrome variant features an innovative grip pattern that enhances control and reduces friction, making it perfect for trimming and easing sails.

The Radial Self-Tailing Winch is designed to reduce line wear with unique grip surfaces. These surfaces are shaped to eliminate the need for friction to hold the line, ensuring smooth operation and reducing strain on the rope.

For safety, all moving parts are fully covered, preventing fingers and clothing from getting caught. Additionally, maintenance is made simple with the top of the winch lifting out as a single unit, allowing for quick and error-free reassembly.

The Radial grip works like a screw, driving the line downwards for better control during easing. Composite roller bearings and bushings reduce friction under load. These bearings offer excellent corrosion resistance and do not require lubrication, contributing to the winch’s lightweight design — it is 25-50% lighter than conventional winches.

Unlike the aluminum models, the chrome version features a different grip pattern designed for increased friction. The smooth chrome finish requires a closer spacing of ribs, optimizing grip for both trimming and easing sails.
