The PSS 07-40M-212-KIT is an essential maintenance kit designed specifically for 40mm shafts. Regular maintenance is crucial for ensuring the longevity and effectiveness of your PSS shaft seal system.
To maintain optimal performance, the PSS bellows, like any rubber or silicone hose positioned below the waterline, should be inspected frequently for signs of wear, aging, or chemical deterioration. PSS Seal recommends replacing the bellows every six years. During this replacement, it's also advisable to change the o-rings, set screws, and hose clamps. The PSS Maintenance Kit includes all necessary replacement parts to facilitate this process.

While it is recommended to replace the bellows every six years, the carbon stator and stainless steel rotor typically do not require replacement under normal conditions. However, when replacing the bellows, it is critical to also replace the o-rings and set screws in the stainless steel rotor, as well as the hose clamps.
Can I re-use my set screws when making an adjustment or removing the PSS Shaft Seal?
No, re-using the set screws is not advisable. The set screws provided with the PSS Shaft Seal are cup-point set screws, which grip the shaft upon tightening. Re-using them could prevent the proper locking mechanism from engaging. The PSS Maintenance Kit includes five new set screws for this reason.
