As with any rubber or silicone hose situated below the waterline, the PSS bellows require regular inspections for wear, aging, or chemical deterioration. PSS Seal advises replacing the bellows every six years. During this replacement, it is also advisable to replace the o-rings, set screws, and hose clamps. The PSS Maintenance Kit includes all necessary replacement parts.

PSS Seal recommends that the bellows be replaced every six years. Along with the bellows, it is also recommended to replace the o-rings and set screws within the stainless steel rotor and the hose clamps. Typically, the carbon stator and stainless steel rotor do not require replacement.

Can I re-use my set screws when making an adjustment or removing the PSS Shaft Seal?

No, the set screws provided with the PSS Shaft Seal are cup-point set screws, designed to compress onto the shaft when tightened. Re-using them may prevent proper locking onto the shaft. The PSS Maintenance Kit includes five new set screws for your convenience.
