The PSS PRO Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered for superior performance in demanding marine environments. This mechanical face seal features a robust design that utilizes high-quality stainless steel and carbon sealing components, enhanced with a reinforced silicone bellows for added durability.

Designed to withstand harsh conditions, the PSS PRO Shaft Seal includes a secondary shaft retention collar and 316 Stainless Steel hose clamps with rolled edges to ensure a secure fit. An optional Nitronic 50 rotor upgrade is available, making it ideal for highly corrosive applications.

As a mechanical face seal, it operates by creating a sealing surface between a polished stainless steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is attached to a heavy-duty silicone bellows that connects to the vessel's stern tube. The rotor compresses the bellows and is securely mounted to the shaft, maintaining constant contact and accommodating variable axial movement due to propeller thrust. Additionally, the over-bored carbon flange allows for floating action, which compensates for misalignment and vibrations. The seal features O-rings that rotate with the rotor, preventing wear during operation.

Key specifications include operating temperature limits of -13°F to 425°F (-25°C to 220°C), pressure limits of 40 PSI (2.75 BAR), and a shaft RPM limit of 10,000 RPM. The carbon graphite involves a tight tolerance of 0.000044" for a smooth operation, with a face finish of 9-12 Ra for optimum sealing performance.
