The PSS PRO Shaft Seal is engineered for optimal performance and durability under harsh conditions. It features advanced stainless steel and carbon sealing components complemented by a reinforced silicone bellows and a secondary shaft retention collar. Additionally, the product includes premium 316 Stainless Steel hose clamps, designed with rolled edges and non-perforated configuration. An optional Nitronic 50 rotor upgrade is available, making it an ideal choice for environments prone to corrosion.

This mechanical face seal is crafted for applications where durability and resistance to corrosive elements, high pressure, and intense operational demands are essential. The sealing mechanism is formed between the rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to a robust silicone bellows fixed to the vessel’s stern tube using 316SS hose clamps. The rotor compresses the bellows and is attached to the shaft via set screws, ensuring a secure assembly with a secondary shaft retention collar.

This pre-load compression ensures constant contact between the stainless-steel rotor and carbon flange, allowing for compensation of the axial movement created by propeller thrust. The over-bored design of the carbon flange accommodates shaft misalignment and vibration. Two recessed O-rings in the rotor bore effectively create a seal against the shaft, rotating with it to limit wear and enhance longevity.
