The PSS 02-95M-612 Dripless Shaft Seal is designed to provide exceptional sealing performance for your marine applications. This high-quality, mechanical face seal ensures durability and reliability in demanding environments.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal operates through a clever mechanical design, featuring a sealing interface created by the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor paired with a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the front of a flexible bellows with hose clamps, while the back of the bellows fits snugly over the stern tube, also secured using hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is then mounted onto the shaft, compressing the bellows to form a pre-load that maintains consistent contact between the rotor and the carbon flange. This innovative construction allows the seal to compensate for any fore and aft movement generated by propeller thrust.

Moreover, the carbon flange has been designed with an over-bore to match the shaft diameter, enabling it to "float" around the shaft and effectively address misalignment and vibration issues. To further enhance its sealing capabilities, the rotor is fitted with two O-rings that are recessed into the collar's bore, ensuring a secure seal with minimal wear during operation.
