The PSS 02-95M-600 Dripless Shaft Seal is an advanced solution designed to effectively eliminate water leakage from your stern tube, ensuring optimal performance of your vessel. This product is engineered for both reliability and ease of installation, making it an essential component for marine applications.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal operates as a mechanical face seal, formed by the interaction of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the bellows, which is clamped at both the front and back to fit perfectly over the stern tube. In front of the carbon flange, the stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft, where it compresses the bellows to maintain consistent contact between the rotor and flange surfaces. This pre-load feature allows the seal to adjust for any forward and backward movements due to propeller thrust, providing enhanced sealing capability.

Moreover, the carbon flange is designed to over-bore to the shaft diameter, enabling it to “float” around the shaft. This unique design helps compensate for potential misalignment and vibration, ensuring a smooth and reliable operation. The seal is secured to the shaft using two O-rings that are recessed into the collar's bore, allowing the O-rings to rotate with the shaft and rotor without experiencing wear during use.
