The PSS 02-95M-514 Dripless Shaft Seal offers reliable performance for marine applications. Designed with advanced engineering, this mechanical face seal ensures exceptional sealing capability under varying conditions.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal operates on a principle of mechanical face sealing, where the contact is made between the smooth surfaces of a stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is secured to the bellows with hose clamps, while the rear section of the bellows fits snugly over the Stern tube, also held in place by hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is attached to the shaft and compresses the bellows before being secured with set screws. This initial compression maintains continuous contact between the rotor and flange. This design compensates for the shifts caused by propeller thrust, ensuring consistent operation.

Furthermore, the carbon flange is precisely over-bored to match the shaft diameter, allowing it to "float" and effectively manage misalignment and vibration. Sealing to the shaft is achieved through two durable O-rings, which are recessed into the collar's bore, rotating with the shaft to minimize wear during operation.
