The PSS 02-95M-500 Dripless Shaft Seal is expertly designed for reliable performance in marine applications. This innovative shaft seal utilizes a mechanical face seal that ensures a leak-free operation, enhancing the durability and functionality of your stern tube system.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal features a unique sealing mechanism that involves a stationary carbon flange and a rotating stainless-steel rotor. The sealing surface is created between the flat surfaces of these components, which are securely fastened through a bellows. The carbon flange is attached at the front of the bellows using hose clamps, while the rear fits snugly over the stern tube, also secured with hose clamps. The rotor is mounted on the shaft ahead of the carbon flange and is designed to compress the bellows, maintaining consistent contact with the carbon flange. This pre-load ensures that the seal adapts to the variable movements caused by propeller thrust.

Additionally, the over-bored design of the carbon flange allows it to float around the shaft, compensating for misalignments and vibrations. For optimal sealing, the stainless-steel rotor is fitted with two O-rings recessed into the collar, which rotate with the shaft and rotor, preventing wear during operation.
