The PSS 02-95M-434 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered to provide reliable sealing solutions for marine applications. This innovative design ensures optimal performance while accommodating the dynamic movements of the shaft and stern tube.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal utilizes a mechanical face seal, where the sealing surface is formed between a flat rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the front side of the bellows using hose clamps, while the back end of the bellows is fitted over the stern tube and also secured with hose clamps. Positioned on the shaft in front of the carbon flange, the stainless-steel rotor compresses the bellows, which is crucial for maintaining constant contact between the rotor and the carbon flange. This design allows the PSS to adapt to variable fore-and-aft movements resulting from propeller thrust.

The carbon flange is designed with an over-bore to match the shaft diameter, enabling it to "float" around the shaft and effectively compensate for misalignments and vibrations during operation. Sealing the rotor to the shaft are two O-rings seated in the collar's bore, which rotate with the shaft and rotor without incurring wear.
