The PSS 02-95M-412 Dripless Shaft Seal offers a reliable solution for maintaining a watertight seal around the stern tube of your vessel. Its advanced design ensures durability and effectiveness even under high operational stress.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal is crafted as a mechanical face seal, relying on a seamless interaction between its stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange, securely attached to the bellows via hose clamps, connects to the stern tube, ensuring a snug fit. The rotor is precisely mounted on the shaft before being secured, applying compression to the bellows. This pre-load is crucial, as it ensures consistent contact between the rotor and the carbon flange, effectively compensating for any movement caused by propeller thrust.

The unique design of the carbon flange, which is over-bored to the shaft diameter, allows it to “float,” accommodating misalignments and vibrations effortlessly. The stainless-steel rotor is sealed to the shaft using two O-rings that sit recessed within the collar's bore. These O-rings rotate along with the shaft and rotor, ensuring minimal wear over time.

The PSS 02-95M-412 comes equipped with temperature limits ranging from 5°F to 225°F (-15°C to 107°C), pressure limits of 15 PSI (1 BAR), and can accommodate shaft RPMs up to 10,000. The carbon graphite is finely lapped to a tight tolerance of 0.000044 inches, while the 316 stainless steel and Nitronic 50 are faced to a smooth finish rated at 9-12 Ra. Additionally, the bellows material is composed of durable molded nitrile with PVC.
