The PSS 02-90M-634 Dripless Shaft Seal is designed for superior performance and reliability in marine applications. Its mechanical face seal features a unique sealing surface formed between a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the bellows, which itself is fitted over the stern tube, ensuring a tight and effective seal.

The stainless-steel rotor compresses the bellows, maintaining constant contact with the carbon flange. This pre-load allows the PSS seal to accommodate the forward and backward movements caused by propeller thrust while effectively handling misalignment and vibration. The carbon flange's design enables it to "float" around the shaft, further enhancing its ability to prevent leaks.

Sealing is ensured by two O-rings that are recessed within the collar's bore, rotating seamlessly with the shaft without incurring wear. This results in a robust and durable interface that exceeds performance expectations.
