The PSS 02-90M-612 is a high-performance dripless shaft seal designed to provide reliable sealing for stern tubes. Its innovative mechanical face seal construction ensures durability and efficiency, making it an excellent choice for marine applications.

The PSS Shaft Seal employs a mechanical face seal mechanism where the sealing surface is formed between a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the bellows with hose clamps, while the rear end of the bellows is fitted over the stern tube and also secured with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor compresses the bellows, maintaining constant contact with the carbon flange, compensating for movements caused by propeller thrust, thus ensuring a secure seal under varying conditions. Additionally, the carbon flange is over-bored to allow for lateral movement around the shaft, which addresses potential misalignment and vibration issues effectively.

Two O-rings recessed in the collar's bore seal the rotor to the shaft, rotating in unison with the rotor and preventing wear during operation. The robust design is built to withstand challenging environments.

Temperature limits for this seal range from 5°F to 225°F (-15°C to 107°C), with pressure limits set at 15 PSI (1 BAR) and a shaft RPM maximum of 10,000 RPM. The carbon graphite is lapped to a precise tolerance of 0.000044 inches, and the stainless-steel components feature a finish of 9-12 Ra. The molded nitrile-PVC bellows material further enhances the seal's longevity and reliability.

Specifications include a shaft diameter of 90 mm and compatibility with stern tubes ranging from 6 1/2 inches to 6 5/8 inches.
