The PSS 02-90M-600 Dripless Shaft Seal is designed to ensure a reliable and maintained seal for stern tubes in marine applications. With a focus on durability and performance, this seal is engineered to handle varying conditions while minimizing wear and maintaining functionality.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal operates as a mechanical face seal, with the sealing surface formed between the flat faces of its stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange, securely attached to the front of the bellows with hose clamps, allows for effective sealing. The back end of the bellows fits over the stern tube and is also secured with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted onto the shaft in front of the carbon flange, compressing the bellows before securing it to the shaft with set screws. This pre-load helps maintain constant contact between the rotor and the flange, effectively compensating for any fore and aft movement caused by propeller thrust. The carbon flange is crafted to float around the shaft, accommodating misalignments and vibration dampening. The rotor is sealed to the shaft with two O-rings embedded in the collar's bore, which rotate with the shaft, ensuring no wear during operation.
