The PSS Type A Shaft Seal is a high-performance mechanical face seal designed to provide a reliable and dripless seal for marine applications. It compensates for variable shaft movement caused by propeller thrust and helps minimize misalignment and vibration, ensuring a long-lasting and efficient operation.
- The sealing surface is formed between the stainless-steel rotor and the stationary carbon flange.
- The carbon flange is attached to the front of the bellows with hose clamps and allows for movement around the shaft to handle misalignment.
- The rotor compresses the bellows to maintain contact with the carbon flange, ensuring a tight seal during operation.
- O-rings are recessed into the rotor to prevent wear and provide a strong seal around the shaft.
