The PSS Type A Shaft Seal is a reliable and effective mechanical face seal designed for marine applications. It ensures dripless performance by maintaining a constant sealing surface between a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. This design helps to compensate for misalignment, vibration, and the movement caused by propeller thrust.
- Sealing Mechanism: Stainless-steel rotor and carbon flange create the sealing surface.
- Attachment: Carbon flange secured to the bellows with hose clamps, while the bellows fit over the stern tube and are similarly secured.
- Compensation for Movement: Pre-load compression maintains contact between the rotor and flange to account for variable fore and aft movement.
