The PSS 02-85M-500 Dripless Shaft Seal is designed to provide reliable sealing for marine applications, ensuring optimal performance and durability. With its innovative mechanical face seal design, this product effectively addresses the challenges of propeller thrust and shaft misalignment.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal features a mechanical face seal where the sealing surface is formed between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the bellows, which fits over the stern tube, ensuring a tight seal with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is positioned on the shaft in front of the carbon flange and is compressed against the bellows before being secured with set screws. This pre-load maintains consistent contact between the rotor and flange, allowing the seal to adapt to any fore and aft movement resulting from propeller thrust.

The carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft, compensating for misalignment and vibrations, which enhances its performance. Sealing is further ensured by two O-rings that are recessed into the collar's bore, rotating with the shaft and rotor without experiencing wear during operation.
