The PSS 02-85M-434 is an advanced dripless shaft seal designed for reliable performance in marine environments. This innovative product ensures a secure seal, preventing water ingress while accommodating the natural movements of the propeller shaft.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal utilizes a mechanical face seal, formed between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is mounted on the front of the bellows, secured with hose clamps, while the back end fits over the stern tube, also held in place with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor attaches directly to the shaft, compressing the bellows before being fastened with set screws. This pre-load ensures constant contact between the rotor and flange, effectively compensating for any fore and aft movement caused by propeller thrust.

Additionally, the carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft, which helps mitigate alignment issues and vibrations. The rotor is sealed to the shaft using two O-rings that rotate with the assembly, eliminating wear during operation.
