The PSS 02-80M-600 is a high-performance dripless shaft seal designed for marine applications. This innovative product utilizes a mechanical face seal to ensure reliable operation and minimal maintenance.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal features a unique design where the sealing surface is formed between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The stationary carbon flange is secured to the front of the bellows with hose clamps, while the back of the bellows fits over the stern tube, also secured with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft, positioned in front of the carbon flange. This rotor compresses the bellows prior to being fastened to the shaft with set screws, creating a pre-load that maintains consistent contact between the rotor and flange. This design allows the PSS to adapt to any forward or backward movement caused by propeller thrust.

Additionally, the carbon flange is over-bored to match the shaft diameter, allowing it to "float" and effectively compensate for misalignment and vibration. The stainless-steel rotor is sealed to the shaft using two O-rings that are recessed into the collar's bore. These O-rings rotate with the shaft and rotor, ensuring they experience minimal wear over time.
