The PSS 02-80M-512 is a high-performance dripless shaft seal designed for marine applications. With its innovative mechanical face seal, this product ensures reliable operation and longevity in various conditions.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal features a mechanical face seal where the sealing surface is formed between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the front of the bellows using hose clamps, while the back end of the bellows fits over the stern tube, also secured with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft in front of the carbon flange, compressing the bellows to maintain constant contact between the two flat faces. This design allows the PSS seal to accommodate variable fore and aft movement caused by propeller thrust.

Additionally, the carbon flange is over-bored to the shaft diameter, enabling it to "float" around the shaft. This feature helps compensate for misalignment and vibration issues. The rotor is sealed to the shaft with two O-rings recessed in the collar's bore, which rotate with the shaft and the stainless-steel rotor, ensuring minimal wear during operation.
