The PSS 02-80M-500 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered for reliability and efficiency in marine applications. This innovative mechanical face seal features a unique design that ensures a secure and leak-free operation, adapting to the dynamic conditions of propeller thrust.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal operates through a mechanical face seal mechanism. The sealing occurs between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is secured to the bellows, which is attached to the stern tube using hose clamps. The rotor is mounted on the shaft and compresses the bellows, creating a pre-load that maintains constant contact between the rotor and the flange. This design allows the seal to accommodate the natural movement of the vessel, effectively managing misalignment and vibration. The rotor is also sealed to the shaft with two O-rings that rotate in tandem, ensuring durability without wear during operation.
