The PSS 02-80M-414 Dripless Shaft Seal is designed for optimal performance and reliability in marine applications. This innovative mechanical face seal features a unique design that ensures a watertight seal between the rotating stainless-steel rotor and the stationary carbon flange.

The sealing mechanism utilizes flat surfaces on both components, with the stationary carbon flange securely attached to the bellows using hose clamps. The bellows are then fitted over the stern tube and also secured with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor, mounted on the shaft, compresses the bellows to maintain a consistent connection between the rotor and flange, accommodating any movement from propeller thrust. This design allows the carbon flange to "float" around the shaft, effectively managing misalignment and vibration issues.

For enhanced durability, the stainless-steel rotor is sealed to the shaft with two O-rings that rotate with the assembly, minimizing wear. The product operates efficiently within a temperature range of 5°F to 225°F (-15°C to 107°C), with a pressure limit of 15 PSI (1 BAR) and supports a shaft RPM of up to 10,000 RPM. The carbon graphite is precisely lapped to a tolerance of 0.000044", while the stainless steel components are faced to a finish of 9-12 Ra. The bellows are made from molded Nitrile - PVC, ensuring long-lasting performance.
