The PSS 02-80M-412 Dripless Shaft Seal is designed for marine applications where reliability and performance are paramount. This advanced seal ensures optimal protection against water ingress while accommodating the dynamic movement of the stern tube.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal features a mechanical face seal, where the sealing surface is formed between the flat faces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange, attached to the bellows, allows for flexibility while the bellows itself fits over the stern tube and is secured with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft in front of the carbon flange, compressing the bellows to maintain constant contact between the two surfaces. This design allows the PSS to adapt to the variable movements caused by propeller thrust.

Additionally, the carbon flange is engineered to "float" around the shaft, effectively managing misalignment and vibration issues. Sealing is achieved through two O-rings that rotate with the shaft, ensuring minimal wear during operation.
