The PSS 02-75M-600 is a high-performance dripless shaft seal designed for marine applications. It ensures reliable sealing and durability under various operating conditions.
The Type A PSS Shaft Seal is a mechanical face seal that creates a sealing surface between the rotating stainless-steel rotor and the stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the bellows with hose clamps, while the back end of the bellows fits over the stern tube and is also secured with clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft in front of the carbon flange, where it compresses the bellows before being fixed to the shaft with set screws. This pre-load maintains consistent contact between the rotor and the carbon flange, allowing the seal to adapt to the variable movement caused by propeller thrust.
The carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft, compensating for misalignment and vibration issues. The rotor is sealed to the shaft using two O-rings, which rotate with the shaft and experience minimal wear during operation.
