The PSS 02-75M-514 Dripless Shaft Seal is designed to provide reliable sealing for marine applications. Its innovative mechanical face seal features a robust stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange, ensuring durability and efficiency.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal utilizes a mechanical face seal where the sealing surface is formed between the flat surfaces of the rotating stainless-steel rotor and the stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is secured to the front of the bellows using hose clamps, while the bellows' rear end fits over the stern tube and is also secured with hose clamps. The rotor, which is mounted on the shaft, compresses the bellows, maintaining constant contact between the rotor and the carbon flange. This pre-load allows the PSS to adapt to variable fore and aft movements caused by propeller thrust.

Additionally, the carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft, compensating for misalignment and vibration. The rotor is sealed to the shaft with two O-rings that rotate with the shaft, ensuring minimal wear during operation.
