The PSS 02-75M-500 is designed to provide a reliable and efficient sealing solution for stern tubes. This mechanical face seal utilizes a unique construction to ensure optimal performance and longevity in marine applications.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal features a mechanical face seal where the sealing surface is formed between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the front of the bellows with hose clamps, while the back end fits snugly over the stern tube, also secured with hose clamps. The rotor is mounted on the shaft in front of the carbon flange and is compressed against the bellows before being locked in place with set screws. This pre-loading maintains a constant contact between the rotor and the flange, allowing the seal to adjust for any movement caused by propeller thrust.

Additionally, the over-bored carbon flange allows it to float around the shaft, effectively compensating for misalignment and vibrations. The rotor is sealed to the shaft through two O-rings that are recessed into the collar's bore; these O-rings rotate with the shaft and rotor, preventing wear during operation.
