The PSS 02-75M-414 Dripless Shaft Seal is an advanced mechanical face seal designed for robust performance and reliability in marine applications. With its innovative construction and high-quality materials, it ensures optimal sealing and minimal maintenance.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal utilizes a mechanical face seal mechanism. The sealing interface is formed between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the bellows' front side with hose clamps, while the back end fits over the stern tube and is also secured with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft, positioned in front of the carbon flange, and compresses the bellows before being fastened to the shaft with set screws. This compression maintains consistent contact between the rotor and flange, allowing the seal to adjust for any fore and aft movement caused by propeller thrust. Furthermore, the over-bored carbon flange permits it to “float” around the shaft, effectively compensating for misalignment and vibrations during operation. Two O-rings, recessed into the collar's bore, seal the rotor to the shaft, rotating with it and ensuring minimal wear throughout their service life.
