The PSS 02-70M-600 is a high-performance dripless shaft seal designed for marine applications. With its robust construction and innovative design, it ensures reliable sealing while accommodating the dynamic conditions of propeller thrust.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal operates as a mechanical face seal, featuring a sealing surface formed between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The stationary carbon flange is securely attached to the front of the bellows using hose clamps, while the back of the bellows fits over the stern tube and is also fastened with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft in front of the carbon flange and compresses the bellows, which maintains constant contact between the rotor and the flange. This pre-load allows the seal to adapt to fore and aft movements caused by propeller thrust.

Additionally, the over-bored carbon flange allows for a degree of floating around the shaft, which helps to mitigate misalignment and vibration issues. The rotor is sealed to the shaft using two O-rings that rotate with the assembly, ensuring minimal wear over time.
