The PSS 02-70M-434 Dripless Shaft Seal is an advanced mechanical face seal designed for reliable performance in demanding marine environments. This innovative product ensures a secure seal between the stainless-steel rotor and the stationary carbon flange, effectively preventing water ingress.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal features a sealing surface formed by the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the bellows with hose clamps, while the rear of the bellows fits snugly over the stern tube. The rotor is mounted on the shaft in front of the carbon flange, where it compresses the bellows to maintain constant contact between the two surfaces. This pre-load allows the seal to adapt to the variable movement caused by propeller thrust.

Additionally, the carbon flange is designed to “float” around the shaft, accommodating misalignment and vibration, ensuring optimal performance. The rotor is sealed to the shaft using two O-rings that rotate with the assembly, minimizing wear and enhancing longevity.
