The PSS 02-70M-412 Dripless Shaft Seal is designed for reliable performance in marine applications, ensuring a leak-free operation in various conditions. Its innovative design combines durable materials and advanced engineering to offer optimal sealing capabilities.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal functions as a mechanical face seal, featuring a sealing surface formed between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the front of the bellows using hose clamps, while the back of the bellows fits over the stern tube, also held in place with hose clamps. Positioned in front of the carbon flange, the stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft and compresses the bellows before being secured with set screws. This pre-load maintains continuous contact between the rotor and flange, allowing the seal to adapt to the variable movement caused by propeller thrust. Additionally, the carbon flange is designed with an over-bored diameter that allows it to "float" around the shaft, effectively compensating for misalignment and vibration. The rotor is sealed to the shaft using two O-rings, which rotate with the assembly and are engineered to avoid wear during operation.
