The PSS 02-65M-500 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered for reliable performance in marine applications. Its innovative design ensures a secure and leak-proof seal, enhancing the longevity of your vessel's stern tube.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal operates as a mechanical face seal, where the sealing surface is formed between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the front side of the bellows using hose clamps, while the back end of the bellows fits over the stern tube, also secured with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft in front of the carbon flange and compresses the bellows before being secured with set screws. This compression ensures constant contact between the rotor and flange, allowing the PSS to adjust for any fore-and-aft movement caused by propeller thrust. Additionally, the carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft, compensating for misalignments and vibrations. The rotor is sealed to the shaft with two O-rings that rotate with the shaft, ensuring minimal wear during operation.
