The PSS 02-65M-434 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered for optimal performance in marine applications. This mechanical face seal utilizes a unique design to ensure reliability and durability, making it an essential component for any stern tube setup.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal features a mechanical face seal where the sealing surface is formed between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the front of the bellows with hose clamps, while the back of the bellows fits over the stern tube and is also secured with hose clamps. Positioned in front of the carbon flange, the stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft. This rotor compresses the bellows, establishing a pre-load that ensures constant contact between the rotor and the flange, accommodating any movement caused by propeller thrust.

The carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft, addressing misalignment and vibration issues effectively. Sealing is achieved through two O-rings recessed in the collar's bore, which rotate with the shaft and the rotor, minimizing wear during operation.
