The PSS 02-65M-412 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered for reliability and performance in marine applications. This innovative mechanical face seal ensures a secure and leak-free operation, even under challenging conditions.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal features a unique design where the sealing surface is formed between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is affixed to the front side of a bellows using hose clamps, while the back end of the bellows securely fits over the stern tube. This provides a robust seal against water ingress.

The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft in front of the carbon flange. It compresses the bellows, ensuring a consistent pre-load that maintains contact between the rotor and flange. This design accommodates the variable fore and aft movements caused by propeller thrust. Furthermore, the carbon flange is over-bored to match the shaft diameter, allowing it to float and effectively manage misalignment and vibration issues. The rotor is sealed to the shaft with two O-rings, which rotate with the shaft and do not wear during operation.
