The PSS 02-65M-400 Dripless Shaft Seal is designed to ensure reliable sealing performance for marine applications. This advanced mechanical face seal is engineered to withstand the rigors of stern tube operations, providing a leak-free environment.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal utilizes a mechanical face seal where the sealing surface forms between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. Attached to the front side of the bellows with hose clamps, the carbon flange plays a crucial role in maintaining seal integrity. The back end of the bellows fits over the stern tube and is also secured with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is installed on the shaft in front of the carbon flange. It compresses the bellows, ensuring consistent contact between the rotor and flange. This pre-load feature allows the PSS to accommodate the variable movement caused by propeller thrust. Furthermore, the carbon flange is precision over-bored to the shaft diameter, enabling it to “float” and effectively manage misalignment and vibrations. Sealing is enhanced with two O-rings recessed into the rotor collar, which rotate with the shaft and do not wear during operation, ensuring longevity and reliability.
