The PSS 02-65M-334 Dripless Shaft Seal is a high-performance solution designed for marine applications, ensuring reliable sealing and minimizing leakage. Its innovative mechanical face seal technology provides a robust barrier against water ingress, enhancing the longevity of your vessel's components.

The PSS Shaft Seal utilizes a mechanical face seal mechanism where the sealing surface is formed between the smooth surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the front of the bellows using hose clamps, while the back end of the bellows is fitted over the stern tube, also secured with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft in front of the carbon flange, and it compresses the bellows before being fixed to the shaft with set screws. This pre-compression ensures continuous contact between the rotor and flange, which allows the seal to adapt to the shaft's movement caused by propeller thrust.

Furthermore, the carbon flange is designed with an over-bore to match the shaft diameter, enabling it to "float" around the shaft and effectively address misalignment and vibration issues. The rotor is sealed to the shaft using two O-rings that are recessed into the collar bore, ensuring that these O-rings rotate with the shaft and rotor, preventing wear during operation.
