The PSS 02-60M-500 is an advanced mechanical face seal designed for marine applications, ensuring a reliable and dripless connection in stern tube installations. This innovative product effectively addresses the challenges of propeller thrust and misalignment, providing a durable solution for boat owners.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal utilizes a mechanical face seal mechanism. The sealing surface is formed between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the front of the bellows with hose clamps, while the back end fits over the stern tube and is also secured with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is positioned on the shaft in front of the carbon flange and compresses the bellows before being fastened to the shaft with set screws. This pre-load ensures consistent contact between the rotor and carbon flange, allowing the seal to adjust for the variable movement caused by propeller thrust.

Additionally, the carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft, accommodating most misalignments and vibration issues. The stainless-steel rotor is sealed to the shaft using two O-rings that are recessed into the collar's bore. These O-rings rotate with the shaft and rotor, minimizing wear during operation.
