The PSS 02-60M-414 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered to provide a reliable and efficient sealing solution for marine applications. With a robust design, it ensures optimal performance and durability in challenging conditions.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal operates as a mechanical face seal, where a sealing surface is formed between the flat surfaces of the rotating stainless-steel rotor and the stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the front of the bellows using hose clamps, while the back end of the bellows fits over the stern tube, also secured with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft in front of the carbon flange, applying compression to the bellows before being fixed in place with set screws. This pre-load ensures consistent contact between the rotor and flange, allowing the seal to adapt to variations in movement caused by propeller thrust. Moreover, the carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft, accommodating misalignments and vibrations effectively. The rotor is sealed to the shaft with two O-rings that are recessed into the collar's bore, allowing them to rotate without wear during operation.
