The PSS 02-60M-412 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered for optimal sealing performance in marine applications. This mechanical face seal utilizes a unique design that ensures reliability and efficiency even under varying conditions.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal features a sealing surface formed between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the front of the bellows using hose clamps, while the back end of the bellows fits over the stern tube, also secured with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft in front of the carbon flange, where it compresses the bellows before being secured with set screws. This pre-load creates constant contact between the rotor and the carbon flange, allowing for compensation of any fore and aft movement caused by propeller thrust.

Additionally, the carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft, accommodating misalignment and vibration issues. The seal is further enhanced by two O-rings recessed into the collar's bore, which rotate with the shaft and rotor, ensuring minimal wear during operation.
