The PSS 02-60M-400 Dripless Shaft Seal is designed to provide a reliable and effective sealing solution for marine applications. Its innovative construction ensures durability and performance under varying conditions.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal features a mechanical face seal, where the sealing surface is formed between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the front of the bellows using hose clamps, while the back of the bellows fits over the stern tube, also secured with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft in front of the carbon flange, and it compresses the bellows before being secured with set screws. This pre-load maintains consistent contact between the rotor and flange, allowing the PSS to adapt to any fore and aft movement caused by propeller thrust. Moreover, the carbon flange is designed to "float" around the shaft, accommodating misalignment and vibration. Sealing is enhanced by two O-rings recessed into the rotor collar, which rotate with the shaft and rotor, ensuring minimal wear during operation.
