The PSS 02-60M-314 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered to provide reliable sealing in marine applications. This advanced mechanical face seal features a robust design that ensures durability and efficiency in preventing water ingress.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal utilizes a mechanical face seal where the sealing occurs between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the front of a flexible bellows with hose clamps, while the rear of the bellows fits over the stern tube and is also secured with clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft, compressing the bellows to maintain constant contact with the carbon flange. This pre-loading allows the seal to accommodate movement from propeller thrust, ensuring effective sealing even under varying conditions.

The design also allows for some misalignment and vibration compensation, thanks to the over-bored carbon flange that can "float" around the shaft. Sealing is enhanced by two O-rings that are recessed into the collar, which rotate with the shaft and rotor, minimizing wear during operation.
