The PSS 02-60M-300 Dripless Shaft Seal is a high-performance solution designed to ensure effective sealing for stern tubes. This mechanical face seal utilizes a unique design that effectively manages both alignment and vibration, making it ideal for marine applications.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal features a mechanical face seal where the sealing surface is formed between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the front side of the bellows using hose clamps, while the rear end of the bellows fits over the stern tube, also secured with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft in front of the carbon flange and compresses the bellows before being fastened to the shaft with set screws. This pre-load maintains a constant connection between the rotor and flange, allowing the seal to adapt to movements caused by propeller thrust.

Additionally, the carbon flange is designed to fit around the shaft diameter, allowing it to "float" and effectively compensate for misalignment and vibrations. The stainless-steel rotor is sealed to the shaft by two O-rings that are recessed into the collar's bore. These O-rings rotate with the shaft and rotor, ensuring minimal wear during operation.
