The PSS 02-600-734 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered to provide a reliable and efficient sealing solution for stern tubes. With its innovative design and high-quality materials, it ensures optimal performance in marine applications.

The Type B PSS Shaft Seal employs a mechanical face seal principle. The sealing mechanism consists of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange, which create a secure sealing surface. The carbon flange is mounted to the front of the bellows using hose clamps, while the back of the bellows is fitted over the stern tube and also secured with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is attached to the shaft in front of the carbon flange, applying compression to the bellows before being fastened with set screws. This pre-load maintains consistent contact between the stainless-steel rotor and carbon flange, accommodating any forward or backward movement caused by propeller thrust. Furthermore, the carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft due to its over-bored diameter, effectively managing misalignment and vibration issues. The rotor is sealed to the shaft with two O-rings, which rotate in unison with the rotor and the shaft, ensuring durability without wear during operation.
