The PSS 02-55M-312 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered for reliability and efficiency in marine applications. This innovative seal ensures optimal performance and protection against leakage, making it an essential component for stern tube installations.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal operates as a mechanical face seal, where the sealing surface is formed between the flat surfaces of the rotating stainless-steel rotor and the stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the bellows with hose clamps, while the back end of the bellows is fitted over the stern tube and secured in place. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft in front of the carbon flange, compressing the bellows before being fastened to the shaft with set screws. This compression maintains constant contact between the rotor and the carbon flange, allowing the seal to accommodate any fore and aft movement caused by propeller thrust. The carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft, effectively addressing misalignment and vibration issues. The rotor is sealed to the shaft using two O-rings, which rotate with the shaft and rotor, ensuring durability and preventing wear during operation.
