The PSS 02-514-800 Dripless Shaft Seal is a high-performance mechanical face seal designed to provide reliable, leak-free operation for marine applications. This advanced shaft seal features a sophisticated design that ensures consistent performance and durability, even under challenging conditions.
- Type: B PSS Shaft Seal
- Sealing Surface: The seal is created between the flat surfaces of the rotating stainless-steel rotor and the stationary carbon flange.
- Installation: The stationary carbon flange is attached to the front side of the bellows with hose clamps, while the back end of the bellows fits over the stern tube and is also secured with hose clamps.
- Compression: The stainless-steel rotor compresses the bellows before being secured to the shaft with set screws. This compression maintains constant contact between the two flat faces of the rotor and carbon flange, accommodating for variable fore and aft movement due to propeller thrust.
- Misalignment Compensation: The carbon flange is over-bored to the shaft diameter, allowing it to float around the shaft and compensate for misalignment and vibration issues.
- Seal Integrity: The rotor is sealed to the shaft by two O-rings recessed into the collar's bore, which rotate with the shaft and rotor, avoiding wear during operation.
