The PSS 02-512-858 Dripless Shaft Seal is designed for reliable performance in marine applications, ensuring a water-tight seal between the shaft and stern tube. This innovation enhances the longevity and efficiency of your vessel’s propulsion system.

The Type B PSS Shaft Seal utilizes a mechanical face seal, where the sealing surface is formed between the flat faces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange, secured to the bellows with hose clamps, allows for effective sealing. The bellows fit snugly over the stern tube, also fastened with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft in front of the carbon flange and compresses the bellows upon installation, ensuring consistent contact between the rotor and flange. This pre-load feature accommodates the forward and backward movement caused by propeller thrust, maintaining an effective seal.

Additionally, the carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft, addressing any misalignment or vibration issues. The rotor is sealed to the shaft via two O-rings, which are recessed in the collar's bore. These O-rings rotate with the shaft and rotor, preventing wear during operation.
