The PSS 02-50M-314 Dripless Shaft Seal is designed to provide a reliable barrier against water intrusion in marine applications. Its innovative mechanical face seal technology ensures effective sealing between the stainless-steel rotor and the carbon flange, maintaining optimal performance even under challenging conditions.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal utilizes a mechanical face seal mechanism where the sealing surface is formed between the flat rotating stainless-steel rotor and the stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the bellows' front side with hose clamps, while the back end fits over the stern tube, also secured by hose clamps. The rotor is mounted on the shaft ahead of the carbon flange, compressing the bellows before being firmly attached to the shaft with set screws. This pre-load compression maintains consistent contact between the rotor and flange, allowing the shaft seal to adapt to variations in movement caused by propeller thrust.

Additionally, the carbon flange features an over-bored design that accommodates the shaft diameter, enabling it to "float" and effectively manage misalignment and vibration issues. The rotor is sealed to the shaft using two O-rings, which rotate with the shaft and rotor, ensuring minimal wear during operation.
