PSS 02-50M-300 - Dripless Shaft Seal 50 mm, 3" Stern Tube
The PSS 02-50M-300 Dripless Shaft Seal is designed to provide a reliable, leak-proof seal for stern tubes. This innovative product employs a mechanical face seal with a stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange to ensure a secure and constant seal.
The Type A PSS Shaft Seal features a mechanical face seal where the sealing surface is formed between the flat surfaces of the rotating stainless-steel rotor and the stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is mounted to the front of the bellows with hose clamps, while the bellows itself is secured over the stern tube. The stainless-steel rotor is fitted onto the shaft in front of the carbon flange, compressing the bellows to maintain constant contact between the rotor and flange. This design accommodates variable movement due to propeller thrust and compensates for misalignment and vibration. The carbon flange is over-bored to the shaft diameter, allowing it to "float" and adjust as needed. Additionally, the rotor is sealed to the shaft with two O-rings, which rotate with the shaft and rotor, ensuring durability without wear.
