The PSS 02-50M-234 Dripless Shaft Seal is designed for reliable marine performance. This innovative seal ensures a watertight fit while accommodating the dynamics of propeller thrust, making it ideal for various marine applications.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal is a mechanical face seal that features a sealing surface created by the interaction of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the bellows, which fits over the stern tube and is fastened with hose clamps. The rotor, mounted on the shaft, compresses the bellows before being locked in place by set screws. This pre-load ensures constant contact between the rotor and the carbon flange, compensating for any fore and aft movement caused by propeller thrust.

Designed to handle misalignments and vibrations, the carbon flange is over-bored to the shaft diameter, allowing it to "float" and adjust as needed. Additionally, the stainless-steel rotor is sealed to the shaft using two O-rings recessed into the collar's bore. These O-rings rotate with the assembly, minimizing wear during operation.
