The PSS 02-500-634 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered to provide a reliable and efficient sealing solution for stern tubes. This mechanical face seal maintains a constant seal through its advanced design, ensuring durability and performance under various operating conditions.

The Type B PSS Shaft Seal utilizes a mechanical face seal system where a stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange create the sealing surface. The carbon flange is attached to the bellows with hose clamps, while the bellows fits over the stern tube and is also secured with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft in front of the carbon flange and compresses the bellows, which is then fixed to the shaft with set screws. This compression maintains continuous contact between the rotor and flange, allowing the seal to adapt to the movement caused by propeller thrust. Additionally, the carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft to address misalignment and vibration issues. The stainless-steel rotor is sealed to the shaft with two O-rings that rotate with the shaft and rotor, ensuring minimal wear during operation.
