The PSS 02-45M-400 Dripless Shaft Seal is designed to provide a reliable sealing solution for marine applications. This innovative product features a mechanical face seal that ensures optimal performance and durability.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal employs a mechanical face seal where the sealing surface is formed between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the front of the bellows with hose clamps, while the rear end of the bellows fits over the stern tube and is also secured with clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft in front of the carbon flange, compressing the bellows before being secured to the shaft with set screws. This compression maintains constant contact between the stainless-steel rotor and carbon flange, allowing the seal to adapt to any fore and aft movement caused by propeller thrust. Additionally, the carbon flange is designed to "float" around the shaft, accommodating misalignment and vibration. The rotor is sealed to the shaft with two O-rings that rotate with the shaft and do not wear during operation, ensuring longevity and reliability.
